But unlike relativity, and even more unlike the classical mechanics of Newton, quantum mechanics works with probabilities. Quantum mechanics articulated independently by Schrodinger and Heisenberg explained the behaviour of extremely small, atomic and subatomic bodies. Relativity helmed by Einstein explained the behaviour of massive bodies moving at speeds close to the speed of light and introduced time as a dimension similar to the three familiar dimensions of space. Physics in the twentieth century saw the emergence of two important theories that have shaped the world.
